My name is Julian Picard, and I'm currently a Lead RF Engineer at SpaceX.
I love creative technical work anchored by real-world constraints and deliverables. My favorite part about my work is that, at the end of the day, I have to build something that works in real life. I find that extremely motivating!
In 2013 I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Physics and a B.A. in Art History. I then transitioned to a position at Eagle Harbor Technologies (EHT), a small physics research & development company specializing in pulsed power, high voltage nanosecond pulse generators, and basic plasma physics research. In 2016, I moved to Boston with my partner, Allie, to start a PhD in Physics at MIT. In graduate school, I worked with Dr. Richard Temkin developing new microwave sources for the particle accelerators of the future.
After finishing my PhD, I returned to the Pacific Northwest to take a Sr. RF Engineer position at SpaceX working on high frequency microwave sources for satellite communication.
In my off-time, I love to cook, tinker, and play guitar and banjo — and just talk with people!
